Why should we get a wedding video? Aren't photos enough? 

I love this question! I truly believe both photos AND video are important and amazing for different reasons. Both are capturing your memories in different ways...and this day you have planned for endlessly! If you had the opportunity to look at your parents or grandparents photo album or their wedding video, which would you choose? Would you choose to look at their portrait, or listen to them recite their vows? This is exactly why I love what I do...I capture the sweet emotion when you speak during your ceremony, the stories and kind words spoken in your toasts, and all the emotion, romantic and fun moments in-between. I am always told how many moments I captured that the bride and groom never even saw and how much that meant to them.

 

What kind of Camera do you use? 

I use two DSLRs, both Canon 6Ds.  I use multiple lenses, such as a wide angle and macro, a 50mm, 70-200mm, and a 24-105mm.

 

Do you bring back-up equipment with you to each event?

I do! I have the two DSLR cameras listed above. I bring several extra batteries and media with me to make sure I am covered for 3 times the length of the event. 

 

Do you use external lighting?

I do not use external lighting. I use lenses with wide aperture that are made for low lighting situations , and I have had feedback from couples and guests that they find external lighting obtrusive and distracting. 

 

Do you use wireless mics? 

I use shotgun mics that are attached to the camera and place a Zoom mic by the altar for the ceremony. I use a small lav mic that can be placed on the groom or officiant, as well. Please know that if you whisper your vows, and your guests cannot hear you, neither can the mics.

 

Will you ask our guests to speak on camera for the video?

I will NOT do this unless asked. In my experience, guests do not like being put on the spot and 9 times out of 10, decline my request for them to speak on camera. If this is important to you and you feel you have outgoing guests, then I am happy to ask them for well wishes at your request. 

 

Will you get in the way of the photographer or guests?

It is my goal to remain as unobtrusive as possible, and I am very aware of the photographer and make sure we work together so we are both able to get good shots. I always choose a spot that works for the photographer and make sure they know I will not be moving around and getting in their way. And I never, ever get in guests way or in their faces!

 

If you are at the wedding for 4 hours, why isn't my video 4 hours long?

While I do make sure to shoot every major event from start to finish at your wedding (ceremony, introductions, toasts, dances, etc) I also shoot clips of people arriving, ceremony/reception details and decorations, cocktail hour, photos being taken, etc...but I do not film people eating their dinner, and I do not film the entire cocktail hour, for example. So while I am sure to get shots of everything, I do a "best-of" with the shots in-between. 

 

Can you get footage of the bridal party getting ready?

Absolutely! I can begin and end whenever you would like. Some people choose to have me film getting ready footage, and less of the reception, or they add hours on. It is totally up to you! 

 

Can I choose my own songs for the Highlight Reel?

I have to use music that can be licensed or is royalty free, otherwise, your video will be taken down for copyright infringement. I am happy to give you a list of songs that can be used, and can look into songs for licensing.
